The Charity Auction for Blind Sports Nova Scotia is just a week away!

Local businesses, service providers, and makers have have generously donated an incredible selection of deals for you to bid on.

Nova Scotia glitters with gold, silver, and bronze, at ON goalball tournament

Three Nova Scotia goalball teams earned some serious hardware last weekend at the Ontario Provincial Goalball tournament!

In the rec. division, our Highlanders overcame Kitchener for gold, and the prolific Ship Recs beat Alberta in a close game to secure bronze.
Our Nova Scotia men’s team earned silver in an energetic final bout with team Ontario, in the elite division.
Nova Scotia women competed in the Open division, losing to Quebec in the bronze medal game, with a score of 1-0.
Congratulations to all who competed! Thank you to our coaches, the event organizers, Ontario Blind Sports Association, and volunteers.

Charity Auction for Blind Sports just a month away!

Everyone’s favourite annual fundraiser, the Charity Auction for Blind Sports, is just a month away!

All funds raised support & empower athletes who are blind of all ages. Just $5 at the door!
Bring your friends for an exciting evening, including a live auctioneer and an amazing selection of deals from local businesses. Bid on everything from hotel and spa visits, to savings on food and so much more. Stay tuned to this page for details on auction items!

Para Canoe Kayak Invite

The Maskwa Aquatic Club (Bedford) invites anyone who is blind and visually impaired to get involved with Para Canoe!

This program is free. There is no cost to participate.

There are recreational and competitive opportunities available and Para Canoe runs year round.

This could be an excellent cross-training opportunity for goalbal athletes.

Spring through summer, and into the fall, participants are on the water in kayaks or va’a boats.

During winter months, participants transition to what’s called dryland training in an accessible gym. This can include weight and cardio training.

Training is 3 times a week (Monday & Wednesday 6PM-7:30PM, Saturday 12PM-1:30PM)

Para Canoe coaches are committed to adapting the sport and training for all.

Nova Scotia wins big at 22nd Montreal Open Goalball Tournament

We are celebrating two major wins for Nova Scotia goalball!

The Nova Scotia women’s goalball team, for the first time in history, earned a medal, taking 2nd place to all-star team ON, at the 22nd Monteal Open Goalball Tournament last weekend.

The Nova Scotia men’s goalball team came out on top, ending a 10-year dry spell and placing 1st, after defeating BC by 1 point in the gold medal game.

The men’s team included Matt Gentleman, Griffin Hiltz, Peter Parsons, and Mason Smith. The women’s team included Contessa Scott, Tarah Sawler, Alexis Nickerson, and Alexis Meunier. Coach for both teams is Linda MacRae Triff.
